Pricing Guide
How Much Does CEO Coaching Cost in 2026?
A straightforward breakdown of what CEO coaching costs, what drives the price, and how to think about the investment.
CEO Coaching Pricing Overview
CEO coaching ranges from $200/hour for newer coaches to $1,000+/hour for elite practitioners. Most founder-stage coaches work on monthly retainers rather than hourly rates, which typically range from $1,000 to $10,000+ per month depending on experience, format, and scope.
The wide range exists because "CEO coaching" covers everything from a part-time life coach who works with new managers to a former Fortune 500 CEO who coaches PE portfolio company leaders. Understanding where you fall on that spectrum is the first step to finding the right fit and price.
CEO Coaching by Price Tier
Here's what you can expect at each price level.
Entry-Level
$500 – $1,000/mo
Newer coaches, group coaching programs, or digital-first platforms. Often limited to biweekly sessions with minimal between-session support.
Best for: Pre-revenue founders or first-time managers exploring coaching.
Mid-Range
$1,000 – $3,000/mo
Experienced coaches with domain expertise. Typically includes weekly 1:1 sessions, direct access between sessions, and tailored frameworks. Many offer sliding scales based on company stage.
Best for: Early-stage founders scaling from $500K to $5M+ who need a dedicated thinking partner.
Premium
$5,000 – $15,000/mo
Senior executive coaches with Fortune 500 or PE/VC backgrounds. Includes intensive programs, 360 assessments, and organizational consulting.
Best for: Series B+ CEOs, C-suite executives at mid-market companies, or PE portfolio company leaders.
Elite
$15,000+/mo
Top-tier coaches (Marshall Goldsmith tier). Multi-stakeholder engagements with board involvement, team coaching, and long-term organizational development.
Best for: Public company CEOs, PE-backed leadership transitions, or high-profile founder situations.
What Affects the Cost of CEO Coaching?
Coach Experience & Track Record
A coach who has scaled companies themselves, served on boards, or coached dozens of CEOs commands higher fees — and typically delivers faster results.
Session Frequency
Weekly coaching provides more momentum and accountability than biweekly. Most coaches price monthly retainers based on frequency.
Between-Session Access
Some coaches offer text/email/phone access between sessions for real-time decisions. This is a significant differentiator in value.
Specialization
Coaches who specialize in specific stages (early-stage vs. growth), industries (SaaS, ecommerce), or challenges (founder transitions, fundraising) can charge more because their advice is more targeted.
Format & Tools
Some engagements include assessments (DISC, Enneagram, 360 reviews), workbooks, or frameworks. These add value but also cost.
Commitment Length
Most coaches require a quarterly minimum. Longer commitments sometimes come with better rates and typically produce better outcomes.
Is CEO Coaching Worth the Investment?
The ICF (International Coaching Federation) reports a median ROI of 7x for executive coaching. But for early-stage founders, the ROI often shows up in ways that are hard to quantify: the bad hire you didn't make, the investor relationship you navigated correctly, the burnout you avoided.
At the founder stage, one good decision — or one avoided mistake — can be worth more than a year of coaching fees. A single botched hire at the VP level costs $200K-$500K. A failed fundraise can set a company back 12-18 months. A founder burning out can kill the whole company.
The question isn't whether you can afford coaching. It's whether you can afford to navigate the hardest professional transition of your life without a guide.
How I Work
I work with a small number of founder-CEOs (4-6 at a time) in the $500K to $5M+ range. My approach is psychology-driven — focusing on the mindset, emotional resilience, and decision-making frameworks that underpin everything else.
I offer a sliding scale based on company and/or personal financials. My per-session rate ranges from $300–$500, and a typical monthly engagement (4 weekly sessions) lands between $1,200 and $2,000 per month. All engagements include direct access between sessions via text and email, with a guaranteed 24-hour response time.
I'm passionate about working with early-stage founders and want to remain accessible. If there's a need for additional financial support or budget consideration, I can often find ways to work within most founders' budgets — I encourage you to reach out.
Per Session
$300–$500
Sliding scale based on company stage and financials. 60-minute sessions.
Monthly (4 Sessions)
$1,200–$2,000/mo
Weekly 60-minute sessions plus between-session access. Budget flexibility available.
